UNLIMITED broadband is a controversial area at the moment; what with debates raging about what ‘unlimited’ actually means, warning letters being sent out to people downloading copyrighted content, it’s not surprising that the raft of ‘unlimited broadband deals’ confuses people.
Be Unlimited and O2 Broadband however stick-out from the crowd. They really do provide the most truly unlimited broadband packages.

Best for Unlimited Downloads
There’s very little to say about the usage limits on Be and O2 Broadband because they really do offer unlimited downloads on all their broadband packages.
In principal you can download and upload as much as you like but will only be reined in if your activities are to the detriment of other users.
This means that unless you decide you want to download the entire content of The Pentagon’s data centre you are very unlikely to be told off.

Whilst all ‘unlimited’ broadband providers have fair usage policies attached which limit the amount of certain activities, p2p at peak times for example, some are fairer than others.
Most other broadband providers put restrictions on peer-to-peer file transfers at peak times but O2 and Be don’t operate a peak time policy which means there are no restrictions on what types of applications you can use and when.
In contrast whilst Virgin Media offer speeds that match and sometimes beat O2 and Be the limits it places on downloads at peak times has drawn criticism from those who claim that this makes the service anything but unlimited.
O2 Broadband and Be Unlimited both place no restrictions on the amount of data you can download at anytime of the day or night.
Putting Members First
Recently you may have heard about the new agreement between the big six broadband providers and the British Phonographic Industry to begin issuing warning letters to members who they suspect of downloading copyrighted material.
This has been controversial, not least because of all the complicated legal and privacy arguments it raises.
Be Unlimited are not part of this agreement but instead follow a policy whereby when a request is made by a rights-holder for member details, these will only be released with the authority of a Court Order.
The members whose details are under scrutiny are also informed of the request allowing them to know that they are likely to be under investigation.
Super High Speeds
The other big advantage that O2 and Be have over their rivals is the fast broadband connections they can offer.
O2 Broadband offers speeds of up to 20Mb whilst Be offers up to 24Mb.
The fastest speed you will be able to receive relies upon other factors such as how far you live from your local exchange and the quality of your phone line.
These speeds at the moment are only really rivalled by Virgin Media and Sky Broadband who offer up to 20Mb and 16Mb respectively.
Conclusion
Unlimited broadband can be anything but at times but if you’re looking to download large amounts of music or movies O2 Broadband and Be Unlimited are your best bets if you want to be able to do it quickly, reliably and hassle-free.
